Providence Hall falls twice on Friday, then beats Draper APA 3-2 to end a nine-game slide

Clearfield High beat Providence Hall 2-0 in a girls volleyball match Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m., according to the Utah High School Activities Association's volleyball scoreboard for that date 1. Payson High beat the Patriots 2-0 in an earlier match the same day, at 5 p.m. 1.

Both are listed as two-set results on the UHSAA board, which carried matches across Divisions 1A through 6A on that date. Clearfield and Payson are listed in Division 5A; Providence Hall is in Division 3A 1.

Providence Hall played in the same tournament again on Saturday, Oct. 10, according to the association's board for that date: it beat Draper APA 3-2 in a match listed at 1:30 p.m. 2. MaxPreps, which supplies the records the UHSAA board publishes, reports the same result and describes it as the match in which Providence Hall's losing streak was snapped at nine games 3. The same UHSAA board lists Providence Hall against Parowan at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 10, with no score entered 2.

Providence Hall plays in Class 3A Region 14, according to the Deseret News high school sports service, which publishes the UHSAA's records 4. Jamie Benson is the Patriots' head coach 4. That page lists Providence Hall's completed matches only through Oct. 6 and does not carry the Oct. 9 or Oct. 10 matches from the tournament 4.

The Patriots' next scheduled match is at Canyon View on Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m., followed by Delta at Providence Hall on Oct. 15 and Ben Lomond at Providence Hall on Oct. 22, each at 6:30 p.m., according to the Deseret News schedule page 4. That page does not carry the Oct. 9 or Oct. 10 tournament matches and lists the Oct. 13 fixture at Canyon View as the next match on the Patriots' schedule 4.

The UHSAA scoreboard lists results and the division each team plays in, and no individual statistics for either team in the matches 12. The Ledger reports high school results at team level and withholds the names of student athletes 3.
