RIVERTON — Residents seeking help with a non-emergency matter should call the VECC dispatch line at 801-840-4000 rather than using other channels to reach the Riverton Police Department, Chief Shane Taylor said in a public safety message 1.
Taylor said the department had noticed that several residents were unsure how to contact police for assistance, and he encouraged everyone to call VECC dispatch for immediate help with non-emergency issues, including animal services 1.
For an emergency, residents should call 911 for medical or law enforcement assistance, according to the message 1. Non-emergency matters go to 801-840-4000, where a VECC dispatcher can assist, the chief said 1.
The department said it is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the community and is providing the contact information so residents know where to turn 1.
Taylor asked residents to add the non-emergency number, 801-840-4000, to their cell phone contacts for easy access if they need assistance 1.
Residents can also request a free fridge magnet listing Riverton Police numbers, the city said 1. Requests are made by visiting rivertonutah.gov/magnet or using the QR code and completing a form, and the city said it will mail the magnet free of charge 1.
