RIVERTON — The ice cream brand Salt & Straw will open its first Utah location on Friday at Mountain View Village, at 4489 W. Partridge Hill Lane, Suite S-120, next to R&R Barbecue, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Oct. 13, citing a publicist 1.
The shop is Riverton's, not Salt Lake City's. A publicist said in April that the brand's first Utah location would open at Trolley Square in Salt Lake City; the Tribune reports that the Riverton location will actually be the first 1. Mountain View Village lists the shop in its own directory 2 and carries it under a "New & Opening Soon" heading, with the note that it is located near R&R Barbeque 3.
For the opening, the company is introducing Frosted Pink Sugar Cookie Dough, described by the Tribune as inspired by Utah's soda-shop culture and made with sweet cream ice cream loaded with vanilla sugar cookie crumbles, chewy sugar cookie dough and ribbons of pink frosting 1. The regular menu will be available alongside The Great Candycopia, a Halloween flavor of chocolate candies in salted butterscotch ice cream 1.
On Friday the shop will roll out a red carpet for photographs, and the first 100 people in line will receive gift cards of varying values, with free ice cream for a year as the grand prize; on Saturday children get a free scoop with each purchase and there will be face painting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 1.
