More than 160 Daybreak households have put their Halloween displays on a resident-run map, up from about 75 when the effort began, one of its organizers told KSL.com.

SOUTH JORDAN — More than 160 homeowners in Daybreak have registered their Halloween displays on an online map and a companion mobile app, up from about 75 when the project started, organizer Mallory Curnow told KSL.com 1.

Curnow told KSL.com that some displays include paid actors, DJs and food and drink, and that submissions were still open when KSL.com published the story. She put the growth this way: "It started at, like, maybe 75 houses." She added: "This year, we're over 160, and we're still taking submissions" 1.

KSL.com reported that homeowners register their properties through DaybreakHolidays.com and PorchlightVillage.com, giving details of their displays, activities and attractions, and that the Porchlight app is built to plan a route through the neighborhood 1. John Snow, the app's developer, told KSL.com that users "can find a route through the neighborhood to help them plan their Halloween night" 1.

Lance Starling, whose Daybreak display is themed on the television series Stranger Things, told KSL.com that one to five homes go all out, and that visitors moving from one to the next find 10 other decorated houses that may not have the same recognition but that they still enjoy 1.

Organizers told KSL.com the aim is to spread visitors through the neighborhood rather than concentrate them at a handful of addresses. "Getting your house and the houses around you on the map gets more kids to your area," Curnow said 1.

KSL.com attributes the map and the registration to the organizers and the homeowners who sign up, not to a city programme, and the report did not include an address list or a count beyond the organizer's figure 1.
