SALT LAKE CITY — Herriman High School's Trevin Lounsbury won the Class 6A boys state cross country championship at Sugar House Park on Tuesday morning, finishing the three-mile race in 15:08.08 12. American Fork's David Webb took second in 15:15.97 and Riverton's Carson Stafford third in 15:17.75, according to the Deseret News 2.

It is the second straight year the 6A boys individual title has gone to a Herriman runner. A year ago, Lounsbury's former teammate Jackson Spencer set a new course record at the 6A meet, the Deseret News reported 2.

"I really wanted to win because last year Jaxon Spencer won, and I kind of wanted to do the repeat individual win," Lounsbury said, according to that report 2.

Riverton finished third in the boys team standings and Herriman fourth, the Jordan School District said in its own account of the meet 1. Riverton's 82 team points, which placed it behind Lehi and American Fork, come from the Deseret News team scores 2. Lehi won the boys team championship with 61 points, its first state title since 1995, ahead of American Fork with 66 2. Riverton's Kurt Perry finished eighth to join Stafford in the top 10, the district said 1.

On the girls side, Lone Peak won its fifth straight 6A championship with 30 points, ahead of American Fork with 86 and Davis with 123 2. Herriman finished fourth as a team and Riverton fifth, according to the district 1. Herriman's Ava Clawson placed seventh and Lily Clawson 10th in the 6A girls race, and Riverton was paced by Lyla Swain, the district said 1.

Lone Peak placed six runners inside the top 14 in the girls race, and Lehi's top five boys runners finished within 15 seconds of each other, according to the Deseret News 2.

The district's post congratulated its athletes without reporting team scores or full results; the team scores above come from the Deseret News results 12. The district did not say what races, if any, follow the state meet for its runners 1.
