The Draper Senior Center held a Candidate Day on Wednesday, Oct. 7, starting at 12:30 p.m. at 1148 E. Pioneer Rd., one of a countywide series organized by Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services ahead of the November 2026 elections 1.

The agency lists a Candidate Day at its senior centers through October, from Rivers Bend on Oct. 2 to Millcreek on Oct. 29, according to its October newsletter 2. At each, candidates give a short presentation and then meet participants for about 30 minutes afterward, the newsletter states 2.

Races represented in the series include the U.S. House of Representatives, the state Senate, the Salt Lake County Council, district attorney and sheriff 1. Organizers had not named specific candidates for the Draper stop 1. Two contested countywide races are on the November ballot: Sheriff Rosie Rivera and District Attorney Sim Gill each face challengers, and control of the County Council is also before voters, the Draper Herald reported, citing The Salt Lake Tribune 1.

Paul Leggett, division director of Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services, said the events were meant to keep older adults engaged in the election: "Candidate Days give our participants a chance to connect with local candidates, hear about the issues that matter to them and ask questions directly," he wrote in a statement 1.

The Riverton Senior Center held its Candidate Day on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at 12914 S. Redwood Rd., according to the county schedule 2. The Riverton center is a joint effort: the city of Riverton provides the land and the van, and the county agency provides the operating staff 3. The most recent stop was the Taylorsville Senior Center's on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m., the schedule states 2.

Two stops remain. The Mount Olympus Senior Center holds its Candidate Day on Friday, Oct. 23 at 12:30 p.m. at 1635 E. Murray-Holladay Rd. in Holladay, and the Millcreek Senior Center closes the series on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 12:30 p.m. at 2266 Evergreen Ave. 12. The Draper Herald reported that the series wraps up Oct. 29, ahead of the November general election 1.
