Draper Elementary ranked No. 25 among Utah elementary schools in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings, scoring 95.98 out of 100 1. The Canyons School District school, which U.S. News lists as Draper School, serves 680 students in kindergarten through fifth grade 1.

Twenty-two Canyons elementary schools and six of its middle schools placed in the top 40 per cent of the state's nearly 600 ranked elementary schools and 200 middle and junior high schools, the district announced on Oct. 26 2. The district's own announcement on the Draper Elementary website the following day carried the same figures 3.

At Draper Elementary, 70 per cent of students scored proficient or above in maths and 64 per cent in reading, according to the figures the Draper Herald reported from U.S. News 1.

The top-ranked Canyons elementary school was Sunrise Elementary, which held No. 1 statewide, followed by Peruvian Park at No. 4 2. Among middle schools, Albion placed third, Butler fourth and Draper Park fifth 2. Four Canyons high schools also received "Best in Utah" status from U.S. News, which the district said came ahead of the K-8 rankings 2.

The rankings are built from state test scores rather than from any inspection of a school: half of each school's score reflects the share of students proficient or above in maths and reading, and the other half weights those results by the school's socioeconomic demographics 2. The district's announcement lists the six factors the magazine says it weighs, beginning with college readiness at 30 per cent and state assessment proficiency at 20 per cent 3.

"Seeing so many of our schools recognized among the top-performing schools in Utah is a testament to our districtwide commitment to academic excellence and student success," Superintendent McKay Robinson said in the district announcement, thanking the board, educators, leaders, parents and students 2.

The recognition covers a band — the top 40 per cent — rather than a single list. The district said the 28 schools earned a right to display celebratory badges on their websites, and Draper Elementary's own announcement described the placing the same way 23.

Canyons enrols 32,688 students across 50 schools, according to U.S. News figures that the Draper Herald reported 1.
